UP govt takes strict action against farmers burning crop residue

New Delhi, November 6: The air quality in the National capital has been improving on a good note. This morning, giving respite to people suffering from acute pollution for a week, the Air Quality Index was recorded 260 which is in the poor category.


 

The UP government has taken strict action against the farmers burning crop residue. As per the central pollution control board data Kanpur was the most polluted city in the country followed by capital Lucknow.

Centre is maintaining a constant vigil on the situation arising out of pollution in the northern parts of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation at a high-level meeting on Tuesday. He also reviewed the situation arising due to cyclone conditions in parts of western India.

It was observed that the cases of crop stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana still continue continued and that there is a need for more focused action.

These States have now been directed that more monitoring teams should be deployed on the field to ensure that the violators are taken to task by imposing suitable penalties.

The situation in the capital where different agencies are coordinating was also discussed and it was felt that there was a need for enhanced efforts to control the situation.

The states have also been directed to ensure that they are fully prepared for meeting any exigency in the future.
