IORA will reach greater heights under UAE’s Chairmanship: V Muraleedharan addresses 19th IORA CoM Meeting

Abu Dhabi, November 7: Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan today delivered India’s statement in the 19th Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Council of Ministers Meeting, in which, he welcomed UAE as the incoming chair and expressed confidence that IORA will reach greater heights under UAE’s Chairmanship.

 
“India will cooperate in strengthening the IORA Special fund and the Secretariat. India made a fresh contribution of US $ 1 million to the special fund. India reaffirms its commitment to work for a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific which is also at the heart of IORA. India looks forward to host the 6th Indian Ocean Dialogue in December 2019 to evolve an IORA specific understanding of the Indo-Pacific,” said V. Muraleedharan. 
 
On the eve of the 19th IORA COM Meeting, The Minister yesterday joined Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation of UAE and leaders from other countries. He also had a good conversation with Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh on further enhancing India -UAE trade, investment& tourism links.
