Aligning business partnerships with developmental goals, Hardeep Singh Puri addresses India-WANA Conclave in Egypt

Cairo, November 7: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Hardeep Singh Puri yesterday participated in CII Exim Bank India-WANA Conclave at Cairo. The conclave had large & enthusiastic participation of business leaders, corporate representatives & investment & trade specialists from diverse sectors from India & several West Asian North African countries.
 
In his keynote address at the Conclave, the Minister said, “this relationship holds great promise for the future. I have no doubt that this conclave will significantly help in taking our trade relations to next level. We look forward to engaging with WANA countries for Supporting regional economic integration, fostering shared & inclusive economic growth, strengthening the Initiative’s linkages with wider development agenda through SDGs.”
The Minister further added that India’s partnership with WANA countries is underpinned by geographical & cultural affinities, and today it is comprehensive, multi-dimensional & involves a wide spectrum of activities. Our international partnerships over the past decades have been prompted by economic impulse, moral principles & emotional bonds. India & WANA countries are connected by ancient maritime links, geographically & ever strengthening people to people relations, said the Minister. 
 
Hardeep Singh Puri had a bilateral meeting with Amr Adel Nassar, Minister of Trade & Industry of Egypt and discussed ways to take the trade relationship between the two countries forward. He also had a detailed discussion with Mohamed Ali Abdalla Mohamed Ali, Under Secretary, Ministry of Trade & Industry of Sudan, on the opportunities for enhancing trade between the two countries.
The Minister also deliberated upon issues flagged by Indian corporations in Egypt and discussed various opportunities for the corporations in West Asia & North Africa and the region's huge untapped potential with Captains of Indian Industry at India House in Cairo.
Events like these enable us to align our business partnerships with the developmental goals of our respective regions, & to map a framework for a mutually beneficial partnership between India & the WANA countries.
 
The Minister inaugurated an exhibition on the life, times & philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi organised by Indian Embassy to Cairo to commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of the father of nation. He also participated in the release of the Commemorative Stamp on Mahatma Gandhi by Egypt Post.
