'Boycott KBC, Sony TV', tele-audiences roar when KBC insults Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj!

Mumbai, November 08: Rising against the discourteous and unmannerly act for the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, strains and ethnic groups have began campaign to boycott the Kaun Banega Crorepati show airing over national television. A question on quiz show KBC, which had a reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, triggered a controversy and invited the charge that it disrespected the 17th century warrior.
While the Maharashtra BJP MLA Nitesh Rane on Friday demanded an apology from the entertainment giant for disrespectful reference to Shivaji Maharaj, he said, "The Sony KBC 10 has insulted Shivaji Maharaj by referring him in first person singular form. It should tender apology at the earliest".
Issuing a warning, he added, if they delay the apology further, the show will not have any life line to continue further. The controversy erupted when a question was asked in the show, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, about the contemporaries of Aurangazeb, a Mughal emperor who ruled major parts of India in the 17th century.
The Sony channel however has clarified and accepted that there was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during Wednesday’s KBC episode, due to inadvertence. "We deeply regret the same and being mindful of the sentiments of our viewers have carried a scroll expressing regret during our episode yesterday", it said in a tweet.
Among the four options, Chhatrapati Shivaji was mentioned as 'Shivaji', while other options were Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga and Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Irked with such a reference, several people on social media have also set the handles on fire to criticise Sony and seek an apology.
