New Delhi, Nov. 9: The Supreme Court verdict on Ramjanmasthan Ayodhya issue should not be construes as victory of one group and/or defeat of another but it should be looked at as a victory of our National Unity, said almost all the prominent Muslim citizens and intellectuals to whom this correspondent contacted to know their response.

National Convener of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Mohd Afzal described this verdict as victory of Indian Constitution and Law of the Land. Afzal, under whose leadership the MRM has launched a national campaign to convey the message of peace and harmony amongst the Muslim community, said that this verdict is the victory of our national unity and integrity.

He welcomed the SC decision to allot a separate five acre land for the mosque but said that the proposed mosque should be a symbol of national unity. This mosque should also be constructed outside Ayodhya, Afzal suggested.

Adv Shaheen Pervez, a leading lawyer from Meerut and national convener of MRM Women’s Wing said that this verdict is the victory of ‘Sarv Dharma Samabhav’ culture of the country. Welcoming the decision Adv Pervez said that the name of the proposed new mosque should be after ‘our Nabi’.

Former Rajashtan bureaucrat Farukh Ahmed Khan described this verdict as ‘well balanced’ and appealed to all to welcome it and maintain peace and harmony at any cost.

Former Chairman of Rajasthan Wakf Board Abu Bakar Naqvi also welcomed the Supreme Court decision and said that Muslims have welcomed the direction of Supreme Court to give land for mosque. This is a historic decision in which the apex court has honoured the faith of Hindus and also favoured the Muslims with the land for mosque. This verdict will further cement the people’s faith in the judiciary and maintain communal harmony.

MRM National Convener Islam Abbas from Agra said that this was a historic decision and we honour and welcome this verdict. He thanked the Supreme Court and the government for resolving this 150 year old dispute in a very amicable way.

Raza Rizvi, Member of the Press Council of India and a prominent journalist from Lucknow said that Muslims are happy with the verdict as they got a land for the mosque. He said Lord Sri Ram is described as “Imam-e-Hind’ and the Holy Quran also endorses that Allah had sent 1.24 lakh ‘Nabis’ to guide the human society from time to time. So, Muslims should happily come forward and contribute in construction of the temple, he added.
