Addressing the delegates on the sidelines of COP25 in Madrid, Javadekar said that four years ago in Paris, it was a new beginning when PM Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande launched the International Solar Alliance.
Expressing happiness over the phenomenal progress that has been made by the Alliance with over 83 countries joining it in just four years, he further stressed at the need of the hour to tap solar in a big way. "The ISA expansion is needed to meet the growing energy requirement, even as it acknowledged the phenomenal progress made by the Alliance and the growing solar energy capabilities the world over", he said.
Listing out the aggressive manner in which India has expanded its renewable energy mix, the Minister pointed out that five years ago, India had just 3 GW of Solar energy which has now increased to 33 GW. He added that India is going to achieve 100 GW of Solar energy by 2022 i.e. in the next three years it will add 67 GW more of solar energy.

"Today India's 37 per cent energy capacity is through renewables and that we must be making efforts to increase the renewable energy capacity", Javadekar signed off, while congratulating for the aggregated demand of Solar Agriculture Pumps from various countries.
