13 locations of Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi in radar; CBI conducts search in Arms License Case

New Delhi, December 30: Keeping vigilance at par, the Crime Bureau of Investigation is carrying out searches at around 13 locations in Jammu and Kashmir, and New Delhi. The raid is conducted in connection with the arms license case. The areas under radar are Srinagar, Jammu, Gurugram & Noida at premises of the then DCs, DMs of Kupwara, Barmula, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Sopian, Rajouri, Doda, Pulwama in ongoing investigation of case related to allegations of issuance of Arms Licences.

The CBI officials informed that the residence of IAS officers Yasha Mudgil and Rajiv Ranjan, and former senior officers are being searched. The searches are being conducted in around 13 locations in connection with two CBI cases related to alleged irregularities in issuance of around two lakh arms licences from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, they said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) spokesperson Nitin Wakankar said that it was also alleged that the then public servants received illegal gratification in issuance of licences to non-residents of Jammu and Kashmir in violation of rules.

According to reports, the District Magistrate of Kupwara and Baramulla are under the lens in the arm license case probe. The CBI raids have been conducted at the premises of these officials:

Rajeev Ranjan IAS 2010 batch. He is the former Kupwara District Collector
Ms Yasha Mudgil IAS 2007 batch. He is the former DM of Baramulla and Udhampur.
Itrat Hussian: Former District Magistrate of Kupwara.
Salim Mohammed: Former District Magistrate of Kishtwar
Mohammed Javed Khan: Former District Magistrate of Kishtwar and Shopian
FC Bhagat: Former District Magistrate of Rajouri
Farooq Ahmed Khan: Former District Magistrate of Doda
Jehangir Ahmed Mir: Former District Magistrate of Pulwama

The raids are part of a larger investigation by CBI which is conducting searches at various locations today. Earlier in July, the CBI has conducted similar raids across several states and union territories in connection with arms smuggling.
