Guwahati, February 12: Top Indian shuttlers will be seen in action in the 83rd edition of Senior National Badminton Championships that begin in the Assamese city of Guwahati today. India’s badminton queens Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu will be the biggest attraction in women’s singles as they will reignite their on-field rivalry at home turf.

The duo of finalists at the last edition, have been India's biggest achievers over the years, including last season.

Defending champion Saina had the last laugh in the last edition of the tournament against Sindhu and she went on to get the better off her compatriot at Gold Coast final as well for her second Common Wealth Games gold.

Saina, who made a good start to the new BWF season with a title triumph at the Indonesia Masters, will look to conquer the Nationals for the fourth time, while last edition's runner-up Sindhu too would hope to lift the trophy for a third time.

Meanwhile, in the Men's Singles, former champions Sameer Verma and Parupalli Kashyap will be leading the charge. Men’s singles will be miss defending champion HS Prannoy and runner-up Kidambi Srikanth this season who are suffering from injuries.

This is the first time the prestigious Nationals are returning to the North-East since Guwahati last hosted it in 2010.
