Tral, March 11: In the quest to uproot terrorism and eliminate terrorists, the security forces have pledged for operation all out to put an end to the heinous acts. In a recent development, a key conspirator of the Pulwama attack is killed in the Tral encounter. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Tral after receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area. The operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire at the search party of the forces who retaliated.

It is believed that Mudasir Khan alias Mohammad Bhai was recruited as an over-ground worker of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in 2017 and became a key Improvised Explosive Device (IED) handler in the days that followed. JeM terrorist Mudasir Khan has been identified as the brains behind the audacious terror strike in Pulwama that left 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel dead on 14 February.

The family of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) commander Mudasir Khan has identified his body as one of the two militants killed in Tral gunfight, police said on Monday as it awaited forensic reports. "One of the two slain militants has been identified as Mudasir Khan, alias Mohammad Bhai, JeM commander believed to have masterminded the February 14 Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF troopers were killed," an officer said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the 14 February terror attack, had carried out searches at the residence of Mudasir Khan on 27 February. A Maruti Eeco minivan was used in the Pulwama terror attack and it was bought by another JeM operative just 10 days before the suicide attack. The JeM operative, identified as Sajjad Bhat, a resident of Bijbehara in south Kashmir, has since been on the run and is believed to have become an active militant now.
