Moving together towards development; India trains 25 officers of Nepal's Revenue Investigation dept

New Delhi, March 26: Having a traditional and cultural bond has deepened the relation between India and Nepal so much that the two countries share a great diplomatic relationship. A group of 25 officers of Nepal's Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI Nepal) have come to India on a 5-day training at National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Faridabad.

 

The customized training on "Investigation and Control of Revenue Leakage" is organised as per the request of the Nepal Government. The training is fully supported by the Government of India under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme.

A total 50 officers from DRI Nepal are being trained under this initiative. The first batch of 25 officers had their training at NACIN from 11-15 March 2019. The training is likely to strengthen investigative capabilities of DRI Nepal Officers and make them better equipped and effective in controlling and protecting the revenue leakages from legitimate economy and enhancing DRI Nepal’s contribution in the nation building.

NACIN is the apex training institution of the Government of India in the field of indirect taxation and drug law enforcement. It is an accredited Regional Training Centre of World Customs Organization for Asia/Pacific Region and also works in collaboration with other international organizations like UNEP, UNODC, SASEC etc.

This is not the first time that India has helped Nepal. Around 20 officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Finance have started off their second round of training under India. The training is slide in to enhance their skills in e-payment system, accounting, internal audit and fiscal responsibility. The training is a special tailor-made training course on Public Management which will enhance the capabilities of these officials in global practices. The special training programme is scheduled at New Delhi-based Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF).
