Smashing world record, Indian shooting stars bag mixed team gold at Asian Airgun Championship

Taoyuan, March 27: Getting a bang-on start to the 12th edition of the Asian Airgun Championship for the Indian contingent, Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary clinched two gold medals at Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.

 

The duo went on to win the five-team final with a score of 484.8 points. While Saurabh shot 396 out of 400, Manu shot 388.

 

Delightfully, the win came exactly a month after the duo won the ISSF World Cup stage gold at the same event in Delhi.


 

These teenage Indian shooting sensations Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary continued their golden run in 10m Air Pistol mixed team event after setting a world record during the qualifying stage. 

17-year-old Manu and 16-year-old Saurabh shot a combined score of 784, breaking the record set by Russians Vitalina Batsarashkina and Artem Chernousov at the European Championships.

 

The second Indian team of Anuradha and Abhishek Verma shot 764 getting placed fourth in the final.

Meanwhile, there was more cheer for the Indian camp, as Esha Singh and Vijayveer Sidhu, captured the junior mixed air pistol team gold medal, to assert India’s domination. The second Indian team of Harshada Nithave and Arjun Singh Cheema were placed fourth.
