New Delhi, Mar 6: With over 460 million internet users, India is the second largest online market, Ranked only after China. By 2021, there will be about 635.8 million internet users in India.

 

But why we are recollecting this statistical data, because due to our own “Digital India” scheme, the new research stated that India has emerged as the country that provides mobile data at the lowest rate in the world.

Due to digital India and Reliance’s new venture Jio, the popularity of ultra-cheap data packs reached to the peak within the short period. Jio connected 28 crore subscribers in a very short time.

According to research conducted by Cable.co.uk, Indians pay on an average Rs. 18 for one gigabyte (GB) of data against a global average of Rs 600. 

Report quoted, “A country whose young population has a particularly high technological awareness, India offers a vibrant smartphone market, with strong adoption and many competitors. Data, therefore, is quite staggeringly cheap”.

For this study, Cable.co.uk used data from 6,313 mobile data plans in 230 countries. This data was collected and analyzed by Cable.co.uk in the period of October 23 to November 28, 2018. For studying the Indian market, researchers used 57 plans and found that 1 GB of data was available in the country for as low as Rs. 1.41 and for a maximum of Rs. 98.83. in terms of low-priced mobile data packages, India is followed by Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Rwanda also have cheap data packs.
