Jerusalem, April 10: Securing a record fifth term, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu won the Israeli national elections. With this historic victory, a token of appreciation and praises was dropped by, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

India congratulated its close ally and dear friend Israel for conducting a successful election and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Congratulating the Israeli PM, Prime Minister Modi in a tweet said, “My dear friend @netanyahu, congratulations! You are a dear friend of India and I expect to continue working with you to take our two-way partnership foward.”

India and Israel share a close knitted diplomatic relation. Israel has been supporting India thoroughly and the glimpse of this strong relation was seen when India was attacked on February 14. From supporting India on military grounds to backing on listing Masood Azhar, the relation has escalated considerably.

The Israeli PM won the national election, despite running neck in neck with his challenger Benny Gantz. With 97 percent of the votes counted, neither of the candidates' parties had captured a ruling majority. Interestingly, Netanyahu was clearly in a strong position to form a coalition government with other right-wing factions that have backed him.
