Islamabad, April 16: Recently when the news of the abduction of two Hindu girls in Pakistan went global, the cruel face of forceful conversion in the neighboring country was unveiled. In yet, another shocking and dreadful love story of love, conversion, and custody; an Indian woman named Tina from Chandigarh had arrived in Pakistan to marry her lover but is now in captivity.

After reports of Hamid Nehal and Uzma Ahmed came into limelight, the story emerged, of another Indian who fell in love and went to Pakistan but is now in captivity. Tina from Chandigarh had arrived in Pakistan last year on October 24 and allegedly converted to Islam to marry a Pakistani national. Tina is believed to be in the captivity of her husband Suleman in Gujranwala, Pakistan.

Noting that the girl has been under captivity, India has raised the issue with Pakistan government many times. But like always, their response is awaited. Taking note of the delay in response, India has sent four note verbal’s to Pakistan but no response has come.

Taking cognizance of the situation, the Indian High Commission spokesperson said, "We await a formal response from the Pakistani ministry of foreign affairs on our request to locate and repatriate this Indian citizen." Meanwhile, the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson said, "We are ascertaining facts in the matter and will formally respond soon to the Indian High Commission."

Tina, who has taken Islamic name Ayesha, will record her statement in front of a magistrate soon. The case has many parallels with Hamid Nehal and Uzma Ahmed. Hamid Nehal was deported last year after 6 years in a Pakistani jail. Hamid Nehal Ansari went to Pakistan via Afghanistan after befriending a Pakistani girl whom he fell in love with. He went to Pakistan's Kohat on a fake passport in 2012 and was arrested there by security officials.

Uzma Ahmed, an Indian who was brought back in 2017 had a similar story. She fell in love with a Pakistan's Tahir Ali in Malaysia and went with him to Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district. Later in Buner district of the province, she was asked to marry him. She managed to escape and reached the Indian High Commission and with the help of officials there came back to India.

Off lately, the news of abduction, forceful conversion and captivity has taken a toll and have come into limelight. This awareness among the people worldwide has shown the cruel and heinous face of Pakistan who has given a blind eye to these issues.
