Palamu, April 29: Since India got freedom this area had never voted to choose its favourite candidate for Lok Sabha or any other elections but today it got the first chance to do so. Amid tight security, voting is underway for the first time at booth number 249 in Jagodih area of Palamu constituency.


 

Jagodih is a small place about 30 kilometres away from Palamu district headquarters. The area is surrounded by Jungles and hill and remained a heartland of Naxals and Tritiya Prastuti Committee, a splinter group of Maoists, for many years.

Polling for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls began on Monday in 71 Lok Sabha constituencies spread across nine states. Over 12.79 crore voters will decide the fate of 945 candidates today.

As per the Election Commission data, 23.33% voter turnout has been recorded till 11:30 am. 9 states, 72 constituencies will decide the fate of India as the battle for election and reigning the thrown to become the next political power intensifies with each phase coming along. The spectrum of politics has widened as many popular faces from different fields are entering politics with full-fledged campaigning.
