Raipur, April 30: Three Maoists have been arrested from Aranpur area of Dantewada district. They were allegedly involved in the Neelavaya attack in which a cameraman of Doordarshan News and three security personnel were killed during assembly elections last year.
Also, the police arrested three other Maoists from the weekly market at Geedam area of Dantewada district. Out of the six Maoists arrested in the last 24 hours, four had a reward of one lakh each on their head.
The incident last year was that a DD News cameraman and two policemen were killed in a Maoist attack. The Maoist-affected Bastar region of the state will be going to polls on November 12 in the first phase of the assembly elections.
Two security officers were also injured in the attack that took place in Dantewada's Aranpur village. The cops were patrolling the area when the attack took place. The DD News team was in Dantewada for covering the election campaign and related news. Two other DD News staffers, including a journalist, are reported to be safe.
The Naxals ambushed the patrolling party in Aranpur. those killed in this attack were identified as Sub-Inspector Rudra Pratap, Assistant Constable Manglu and DD News cameraman Achyutananda from Delhi.
