New era in modernization of Indian Education! HRD ministry rolled out new education plan ‘EQUIP’

New Delhi, Apr 30: India is taking various proactive initiatives for transforming the education system. Now, the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry is now working on the ambitious education plan, EQUIP for renovate Indian education system.

HRD ministry introduced the project ‘Education Quality Upgradition and Inclusion Programme’ (Equip) that pursue to bring “Transformational Change in the system over the next five years”.

 

Under this project, the HRD ministry assigning the experts for various sectors to prepare for a Five-year education plan.

According to the report, the HRD ministry is preparing a five-year action plan with the help of experts such as former revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia, principal scientific advisor K Vijay Raghavan, Niti Aayog Ceo Amitabh Pant, former Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan and Rediff founder Ajit Balakrishnan.

After a three-day brainstorming boot camp at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, ten groups, led by various experts, presented draft plans on issues related to higher education and now, their reports would be compiled to create the five-year education plan by June 2019.

Among various issues, Adhia’s group focused on ‘expanding access’ and drew up plans to double gross enrolment ratio to 52 by 2024 and also stressed on increasing the enrollment of SC’s and ST’s. Kant’s group created plans on internationalization of institutes, tightening the policy for foreign universities in India and promoting international academic collaborations while Gopalkrishnan’s team concentrated on ‘financing higher education’ and increased private sector participation.
