Pulwama, April 30: Feeling the pain, sacrifices didn’t go in vain; India rightly avenged the Pulwama terror attack on 40 CRPF jawans. Pledging to root out terrorism from its core, the Jammu and Kashmir police have busted the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) module involved in terror activities. The police have arrested four for their alleged involvement in grenade attacks and planting of explosives in Pulwama district.

Police superintendent Tahir Saleem Khan identified three of the accused as Murtaza, Aqib and Irfan-ul-Haq. The police superintendent further added that the four were a part of a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module involved in terror activities in Pulwama’s Tral and Awantipora areas. The identity of fourth accused was not immediately revealed. Pulwama has been the focus of anti-insurgency operations in the state since 40 paramilitary CRPF troopers were killed in a car bomb attack there on February 14.

The police superintendent revealed that the arrest of Murtaza was done following a specific input. He further stated that a Chinese pistol, two magazines and eight pistol rounds were recovered from him. The duo [Murtaza and Aqib] has been involved in arranging transport and logistics for the JeM terrorists, who are involved in firing on a civilian and injuring him critically.

Khan said Irfan-ul-Haq has also been in contact with the JeM and obtained grenades from them. “He lobbed a grenade on Central Reserve Police Force Camp, Awantipora, and has been operating various WhatsApp groups and transferring, sharing incriminating material with some outside the country,” Khan said.

On Sunday, police said it arrested three JeM operatives two days after they were involved in an attack on a police post in Srinagar on Friday. A constable was injured in the attack.
