Giving wings to dreams, Baramullah to get its first medical college with allied facilities

Baramullah, May 10: Giving wings to dreams and high aspirations, India is flying high making these dreams come true. Slating a series of progressive events, the Baramullah district in Jammu and Kashmir will soon get its first Government Medical College and allied facilities. The college will be beneficial for medical students of Baramullah, Kupwara and Bandipora districts of North Kashmir.

 

The new medical college will also provide better medical facilities to the people of the region. The construction of the college, which started a few years ago, is currently in full swing. It is set to cater to around 1.70 lakh population of North Kashmir once it is completely ready. The college will comprise an academic block and a residential block.

Interestingly, five districts of Jammu and Kashmir, namely Anantnag, Baramulla, Kathua, Rajouri and Doda has been approved with the construction of college by the Union Government. As far as the staff is concerned, they would be recruited at different levels. The first batch of the 100 MBBS students will hopefully start from June as soon as the college is been provided with the permission letter. Students will be selected on the basis of a Common Entrance Test.

The medical college will benefit young practitioners of Baramulla, Bandipura and Kupwara. At present students from this area have to go to Srinagar to complete their training. The construction of these medical colleges is a boon for the people in the region. It will not only boost the health infrastructure of the district but will also provide jobs to medical practitioners.

The construction of the college is being carried out by Jammu Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC).
