Fly high with hefty discounts: Air India offers over 40% relief on bookings three hours before take-off

New Delhi, May 11: 40 % discounts on Air India last minute flight booking? yes, it's true, in a big relief to passengers who generally travel due to an emergency, Air India has decided that very last moment available seats within three hours of departure will be sold at a hefty discount. The discount will normally be exceeding forty per cent of the selling price. The decision was taken during a commercial review meeting at Air India headquarters on Friday. Tickets can be purchased from all outlets including Air India Booking Counters, Air India Mobile App, Air India website and Travel Agents.

 

A statement from Air India said that people booking tickets at the last minute are often faced with very high prices.

"Such high prices are a deterrent and the national carrier has, therefore, decided that... available seats within three hours of departure would be sold at a hefty discount, normally exceeding 40% of the selling price," the statement added.

The aviation sector prices generally increase steeply closer to the departure and the move by AIR India will be a big boon to the last minute travellers.

Last month Air India had also offered "special" fares to Jet Airways passengers stranded at international stations.

Jet Airways had earlier stopped all operations as it failed to secure interim funds from the lenders.
