Boxing their best shots, Indian boxers all set to make India proud in the upcoming Indian Open Boxing Championship

Guwahati, May 11: Abundant with nature’s beauty, the Northeast region has also shined with glorifying its beauty in sports. Bringing athletes from various parts of the region, Mary Kom, Shiva Thapa from Assam has made India proud on the international dais. Continuing to sway the audience, Mary Kom, Assam’s star boxer Shiva Thapa and many other national and international boxers will be seen in an international boxing tournament scheduled to be held in Guwahati.

 

The General Secretary of Assam Boxing Association (ABA) Hemanta Kalita informed that the Indian Open Boxing Championship will be held from May 20 to May 24 in Guwahati. The five-day boxing tournament is to be held at Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Guwahati. Kalita informed that in addition to the Indian boxers, several international boxers from 25 countries are expected to take part in the tournament.

Indian boxers such as Mary Kom, Shiva Thapa, Lovlina Borgohain and several others are to participate in the Championships. ABA in cooperation with the state government is already hurrying up with the preparations for the upcoming tournament. It may be mentioned that the AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championship was held from November 19, 2017 to November 26, 2017 in Guwahati.

A number of Indian women boxers performed brilliantly in that tournament. The Indian Open Boxing Championship will be a good platform for the Indian boxers to further spread their wings before the Tokyo Olympics scheduled to be held next year.
