Maharashtra’s cattle friendship: Grants Rs 10 more subsidy on fodder

Mumbai, May 16: Maharashtra is on the next level of being cattle-friendly state as a grant for animals in the cattle camps has been increased for the purpose of their fodder and water. Maharashtra minister Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday said, “At present, there are 1,417 cattle camps functioning in the state housing 9.39 lakh animals. So far, the big animal got a grant of Rs 90 and the small one Rs 45 for water and fodder.”


 

Also, as per the subsidy given to fodder camps, the amount of 10 rupees per animal is available for purchase of fodder for fodder and for transportation of cattle fodder and 18 kg of green fodder daily for large animals and 1 kg of cattle feed for three days a week and 9 kg green fodder for small animals and 1 kg feed for small animals.

"Now, each big animal will get Rs 100 and the small one will get Rs 50. The decision was taken in the cabinet subcommittee meeting held today," Patil said. Total 4,331 villages and 9,470 wadis (hamlets) are being provided drinking water through 5,493 water tankers, he said.

 

"As many as 67 lakh farmers have been given Rs 4,412 crore compensation for crop losses in the drought-hit areas," the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister said.
