Five Maoists kneel down in Bastar division of Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 17: Thursday had good news as five Maoists, including a female rebel, surrendered in Sukma district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh. Two of the surrendered Maoists carried a reward of Rs. One lakh each on their head. According to police, these rebels were allegedly involved in various Naxal incidents.


 

Police officials said that the surrendered Maoists will be provided necessary assistance as per the rehabilitation policy of the state government. Meanwhile, security forces arrested a female Maoist from the forest of Chintalnar in Sukma district during a search operation. The arrested female rebel had a reward of Rs. five lakh on her head.

Last month, fifteen Maoists, including six female rebels, surrendered in Bijapur district of Bastar division. One of the surrendered Maoists carried a reward of one lakh rupees on his head. These Maoists also handed over three rifles to the police.

Also, two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Dantewada district of Bastar division. The encounter took place at the jungles of Duvalikarka in Kuakonda area. Police recovered two rifles from the spot. One of the killed Maoists had a reward of five lakh rupees on his head.
