After ‘Anaj Bank’, ‘Paani Bank’ in Varanasi to serve poor families

Varanasi, May 18: Underlining the importance of water in our daily life, Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) and Vishal Bharat Sansthan (VBS) jointly embarked on a novel concept of banking by setting up first of its kind Water Bank in the Varanasi.

This innovative experiment was formally inaugurated at the hands of senior RSS functionary, thinker and social leader Indresh Kumar on May 16 by offering water to a ‘Rozadar’ boy from Muslim community. The project is based in Muslim majority residential area of Sahakkar Talab, Shailputri Chauraha, of Varanasi, which is also the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his brief address, Indress Kumar said that the Holy month of Ramjan gives us the message of water conservation clear and loud. Islam has underlined the importance of each drop of water and to save it from going waste.

The joint project of MRM and VBS also assured the guarantee of water while emphasizing on conservation of water. The vow of fasting in this month of Ramjan is bestowed on ‘Rozadars’ by Allah to underscore the importance of water. The Sanatan Sanskriti believes that providing water to the thirsty is a noble work. The government is taking measures to provide water to all but we as a society and non-government organizations should also come forward and contribute our might in this noble task.

 

Rajiv Shrivastav who presided over the program said that water bank will ensure the right of the people to safe and clean drinking water and stop misuse of water.

MRM National Convener and Member of the Press Council of India Raza Rizvi, MRM Sewa Pramukh and Founder of Vishal Bharat Sansthan Dr Rajeev Shrivastava, MRM Fahim Ahmed, Nisar Ahmed, Saurabh Pandey, Santosh Kumar Singh, and other prominent citizens were conspicuous by their presence on this occasion.

It may be mentioned that the MRM and VBS have been successfully running an ‘Anaj Bank’ project in Varanasi for at least last five years most successfully catering to the food needs of over 1500 poor families, most of whom belong to Muslim community and living in slum areas. The water bank or ‘paani bank’ is the next logical expansion of this project.

Salient features of Water Bank:

· Each family will be given a water pass book.

· Water will be issued in proportion to size of the family.

· The users will have to give an undertaking that they will not waste even a drop of water.

· The bank will consider the woman of the family as head and issue pass book in her name.

· Such pass books were distributed to first 20 account holders.

· For opening the account, the persons will have to bring Aadhar Card and two photographs.

· Account of those families will be opened who are deprived of water facility.

· The account holder families will be trained in water conservation techniques.

 

Earlier, Indresh Kumar inaugurated Jal Sewa Kendra at Belwa Baba Mandir in Lamahi area in Varanasi. He also participated in a Roza Iftar program organized by MRM at Shakkara Talab area and gave a message of peace and brotherhood.

He underlined that the RSS is the true and trustworthy friend of Indian Muslims and want to develop them by spreading a feeling of oneness.

Indresh Kumar's participation in Roza Iftar program was in itself a great message for the country.

Dr Sunil Bijli was the guest of honor. Mohd Azaruddin conducted the proceedings and Sultan Ahmed proposed vote of thanks.

Roza Iftar in Shimla:

The MRM organized the Roza Iftar Party in Jama Masjid, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh on May 15 which was attended by Indresh Kumar as chief guest. Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Suresh Bharadwaj was also present in this program.

Addressing the gathering of ‘Rozedars’ Indresh Kumar said that we are one by ancestors and by blood. With change in way of worship or religion this does not change. We must understand this and use this to further strengthen the ‘Ganga-Jamni’ culture of India.

Indresh Kumar, who is also patron and guide of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, said that the MRM was founded to bring the Muslims of India out of their ‘minority’ complex and secure their participation in the development of the nation. He stressed on providing education to the children.

Stating that the ideals of Indian Muslims cannot be terrorist Yakub or Kasab, but they should follow former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as their ideal. He appealed to them to become true follower of Islam and not a fundamental follower.

Coming to respect to women, Indresh Kumar thanked Narendra Modi government for passing the legislation to ban the inhuman, outdated practice of ‘instant triple talaq’ and saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of Muslim women.

He said that India was incomplete sans the 25-crore population of Muslims. He said that each Indian is contributing his mite in making India a number one world leader. He expressed confidence that India will be reunited once and Pakistan will break into pieces soon.

The Muslims of India want Narendra Modi as prime minister once again and have voted for him in the Lok Sabha election, Indresh Kumar said adding that Muslims of Himachal Pradesh will also vote for Modi.
