‘Nari-Shakti’ storming at the International Boxing tournament; 22 Indian women boxers qualify semi finals

Guwahati, May 22: The zeal and sheer dedication towards your work brings you close to your dreams. Signifying the essence of women power in the athletic field, twenty-two women boxers have qualified in the semi finals of the India Open International Boxing tournament in Guwahati. Ace boxer Mary Kom is among the twenty-two Indian women boxers assuring medal in the boxing tournament.

Boxing Champion Mary Kom had a swift win against Nepal's Mala Rai in the Quarter Final last night. Mary Kom will face compatriot Nikhat Zareen in the much-anticipated Semi-Final in the 51 kg category. Assam girls Jamuna Boro, Ankushita Boro and Pwilao Basumatary have also entered the Semi-Finals.

 

Not only this, the latest favourite of the crowd, L Sarita Devi also defeated her opponent in the 60 kg category and stormed into the Semi-Final. With this the women boxers have made their stance clear of winning medals for the country in this international boxing league.

 

The Men's Quarter Final matches will be held on Wednesday. Shiva Thapa and Amit Panghal will play their matches today.
