Generous Helping by Oil Companies for Relief work in Cyclone hit Odisha

Odisha, May 22: Oil and gas giants of India Indian Oil, Bharat petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, ONGC and GAIl India Ltd have extended a generous help of rupees 5 crore each to Odisha for relief work post cyclone Fani.


 

On May 20, GAIL (India) Limited handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 crore to Odisha Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA). GAIL has an expanding presence in Odisha where it is constructing the Jagdishpur – halda and Bokaro – Dharma natural gas pipeline. It also operates the City Gas Distribution Networks in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack. After cyclone Fani, GAIL restored CNG supply in the cities within days with the help of generator sets.

 

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) also handed over a cheque of Rs. 5 crore to the OSDMA yesterday. The same amount of aid has been provided by Bharat Petroleum as well.

 
 
 
 
Oil and Natural Gas Limited (ONGC) yesterday extended financial support of Rs. 5 crore to Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for restoration of Konark and Jagannath temples in Puri, Odisha which were damaged in the cyclone. Puri was the worst affected region in Odisha by cyclone Fani.
