Amethi, May 23: Amethi, one of the most important fight in this election as Rahul Gandhi is contesting from his family bastion and Smriti Irani is fighting with full power. On the judgment day, Amethi chooses Smriti Irani over traditional family, and the Giant-killer Smriti Irani expressed, “Nothing is impossible”.

After this historic victory, Smriti Irani Tweeted, “Kaun kehta hai aasman mein surakh nahi ho sakta...".


Smriti Irani picked up a line from a famous ghazal by Dushyant Kumar to indicate that nothing is impossible. Roughly translated, the line says, "Who says the sky cannot be punctured with a hole..."

before Smriti Irani declared her victory, Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference and congratulated his chief rival for winning the seat that Congress had held for several decades.

At 6:30 pm, Smriti Irani was leading in the Amethi seat by a significant margin of over 38,000 votes.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi defeated Smriti Irani by over 1 lakh votes. Rahul Gandhi had consistently won the Amethi seat since 2004.
