After all huge electoral defeat, Congress leaders who are always been devoted to the Nehru-Gandhi family accepted the failure with “Collective responsibility”.

New Delhi, May 25: After the catastrophic failure of Congress in elections with only 52 seats in the basket, today all the top leaders of the party met to discuss election debacle.

As the meeting started, the rumor spread that, Rahul Gandhi is going to resign due to failure in elections, but denying that, Congress clarified, Rahul Gandhi has not offered to resign over party’s national failure, but the top meet is for analyzing the 52-seat-disaster. This meeting aimed at reviewing the party’s miserable performance in national elections.

 

Mr. Gandhi already took a 100% responsibility for the defeat. Along with this meeting held a day after three state chiefs of the party sent their resignations to the party head, who himself lost his family bastion Amethi with a huge margin of votes.

After the meeting, talking to media, Congress spokesperson, Randeep Surjewala said, "discussion remain inside the party just as you do not discuss editorial lines with us!"

The Congress Working Committee includes general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the chief ministers of all Congress-ruled states - Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

The Congress party answered to its party president Rahul Gandhi’s repentance in a four-hour inquiry by the party’s top decision-making body. In this session, Again the devotees of Congress party acclaimed Rahul Gandhi for his leadership and authorized him to reorganize the party.


 

On the resignation by Rahul Gandhi, Congress member Randeep Singh Surjewala denied Mr. Gandhi to quit as party president.

The whole blame for failure was dropped to state unit chiefs, as they owned responsibility for the rout and said, they all will quit, whereas three have already sent their resignations.

After the meet, Maharashtra chief Ashok Chavan said, “Rahul Gandhi alone is not responsible for the loss. Every state chief should present their resignations to the party president. I am also ready to resign so that the new team can take over”.

 
After the discussion, Gulam Nabi Azad said, “ A loss is never dissected in details at the first working committee meeting, it will happen in the coming days, there will be introspection”.
 
He also said, “If anybody can play the role of opposition on a national scale then it is only Rahul Gandhi which he has displayed”. 
 

 

Saying on the same line of Azad, A. K. Antony, senior Congress leader said, “Don’t agree it was a disastrous performance, but it was not as per expectations”.

At the end of the meeting, the Congress president was thanked at the meeting for his extensive campaign across the country.
