Unfurling the national flag, IAS officer scales Mt Everest with ‘Swachh Ganga Abhiyan’ message

New Delhi, May 25: Impressive as it looks, tedious as it is..! Marking a streak of inspirational story, Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Ravindra Kumar has once again scaled Mount Everest. Although this time, there is a twist in the tale, Ravindra Kumar completed his expedition to the highest peak with an enduring message.

Unfurling the national flag at the highest peak, Ravindra Kumar climbed the Mt Everest with a cause. Kumar carried Ganga jal (holy water) along with him during the expedition to spread the message of Swachh Ganga Abhiyan.

 

An IAS Officer of Uttar Pradesh Cadre, Kumar is currently deployed with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in Government of India. Calling his expedition as 'Swachh Ganga Swachh Bharat Everest Abhiyaan 2019', Kumar rightfully succeeded his expedition.

Ravindra Kumar, the first IAS officer to climb Mount Everest, once again successfully scaled the peak on Thursday (May 23). He had first climbed the tallest peak of the world in 2013. He climbed Mt. Everest on 23rd May 2019 at 4.20 am. This is 2nd time for him after scaling the peak in 2013 from Nepal route. Taking a different route, Ravindra climbed the peak with the China route this time.

Cleaning up the holy river ‘Ganga’, the ‘Swachh Ganga Abhiyan’ pulled in efforts of the people of India in successfully accomplishing the mission. Ganga is not only a river with religious importance but many people depend on it for their livelihood. The 'Swachh Ganga Abhiyan' also plays an important role in creating employment opportunities which in turn will boost country's economy.
