Kolkata, May 25: Leaving Trinamool Congress shell-shocked, Bharatiya Janata Party performed exceptionally well in the General Elections. Winning hearts, the people of Bengal gifted BJP with a massive double digit (18) close gap to Trinamool Congress’ (22). Unbelievable for Mamata Didi, the Chief Minister called for an emergency meeting at her home on Saturday after surrendering ground to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recently held Lok Sabha election.
Flaring up the saffron surge, BJP also gave a shock in the assembly polls by winning four of the eight assembly seats while TMC only won three seats. Mamata Banerjee in the meeting said, "For the last five months, we could not work due to such prolonged elections. Despite all the hurdles, out vote share increased. Nothing is unfair in love and war."
More worryingly for Mamata Banerjee, the BJP managed to win 40.5 per cent vote share in the bypolls, more than the TMC's 37 per cent. Watching the end of Trinamool Congress nearing, Mamata Banerjee said, "Central forces worked against us. The BJP has won the communal agenda and the EC (Election Commission) totally worked in their favour."
It is a human tendency, when you know you are losing a battle, you blame it on someone else. Likewise, in politics if your debacle is nearing end, you blame it on the opposition. Facing worst violence, BJP stood rock strong in Mamata Banerjee’s stronghold West Bengal where her violence ruled. Avenging the political killings of the BJP workers, the party has democratically won the elections giving a major blow to Mamata Banerjee.
