Jaipur, May 7: The 2019 Women's T20 Challenge is the second season of the Women's T20 Challenge, a cricket tournament. Unlike the previous year, this year it is a three-team tournament instead of a one-off match, featuring a new team called IPL Velocity. It is being held from 6 to 11 May 2019 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, coinciding with the 2019 IPL's playoffs. Supernovas locked horns with Trailblazers in the first match of Women’s T20 Challenge.

Harmanpreet Kaur almost took her team Supernovas to victory even after the equation read 19 runs from the last over. However, Jhulan Goswami held her nerve and managed to guide the Trailblazers to a two-run victory. Earlier, Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant inning of 90 runs from 67 balls as the Trailblazers posted 140/5 in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana is the Player of the Match for her 90 off 67.

Supernovas needed 19 runs from the last over, but then Harmanpreet Kaur brought her team back into the game with three boundaries off Goswami’s bowling. Harmanpreet carried out a brilliant shot in the fifth ball and hit the ball to the cover boundary.

Sophie Ecclestone dismisses Sophie Devine for 32 runs in the 19th over. Punia nicks a delivery off Ecclestone and gets out for one run. The Trailblazers had got off a good start as the Supernovas lose their first wicket.

Both sides have some power-packed players from across the globe. The Trailblazers are the more experienced side of the two on paper with the likes of Stefanie Taylor, Suzie Bates, Jhulan Goswami and Smriti Mandhana up their sleeves. But the Supernovas have some exciting young talent and a dynamic captain in Harmanpreet Kaur. New Zealanders Sophie Divine, Lea Tahuhu and Sri Lankan batswoman Chamari Athapaththu are some of the noted overseas cricketers in the Trailblazers side.
