Himachal group of women sets a record and spread message of voting for ‘Mahaparva of Loktantra’

Kullu, May 9: All the candidates and leaders of political parties, NGOs and social media platforms have run voter reg drive to encourage people for voting. This campaign became more powerful when women from Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh gathered together. To spread awareness and encourage people for voting around 5200 women danced with ink on their finger and voter Identification card in their hand. They spread a message to people to use their franchise to increase voter turnout. It was the largest traditional dance with voter cards to celebrate ‘Mahaparva of Loktantra.’


Women wearing traditional dress and performed nati, it is a traditional Kullu folk dance at Ratha maidan in Kullu on Wednesday. Kullu administration has run ‘asa ra vote, asa ra Adhikar’ under systematic voter education drive electoral participation program to increase voter turnout in Kullu.

These women gathered in Kullu from all parts of the district. These women danced on the tunes of folk music and special songs on democracy. They all together took an oath to cast vote in this festival of democracy.

The event was successfully noted in India book of records. The District Commissioner of Kullu received the certificate for their outstanding performance. Biswaroop Roy Chaudhari presented the certificate to DC.

Minimum 4000 were needed to set the record in mass attempt category. India Book of the record is affiliated to Asia Book of Records that follows Asian protocol of records.
