Initiating collective strategies for peace and co-operation! EAM Jaishankar meets Tajikistan President at #CICA Summit

Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Jun 15: India is furthering foreign relations with the motto of peace and development. India with “neighbors first” policy, working for cooperation in the region. Now, enhancing this commitment, EAM S Jaishankar met President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon on the sidelines of the 5th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) summit in Dushanbe.
 
  
 
CICA is a pan-Asia forum for strengthening cooperation and promoting peace, security, and stability in Asia. This year’s CICA summit’s theme is “Shared Vision for a Secure and More Prosperous CICA region’.
 
 
 
On this summit, all countries will adopt a Declaration covering issues of Cooperation within CICA.
 
After taking oath as EAM Jaishankar, this 2nd overseas visit, where he had visited Bhutan earlier this month.
 
 
 
In this CICA Summit, all leaders are expected to discuss on the existing and emerging concerns of common subjects to the members and underline the implementation of confidence-building measures for developing Asia into the prosperous, secure and peaceful region.
 
As per the official statement by MEA, dia is a member of CICA since its inception and late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had participated in the first CICA summit held in Almaty in 2002.
 
India has been actively participating in various activities conducted under CICA.
 
Yesterday, the External Affairs Minister had held meetings with Foreign Ministers of Bangladesh and Bahrain, AK Abdum Momen and Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, respectively, and reviewed the recent progress made in bilateral ties between the two countries.
