With a Spectacular 11-0 Victory, Indian Women’s Hockey Team Secures Spot in FIH Semi-Final

Hiroshima, June 18: By an impressive score line of 11-0, the Indian Women’s Hockey team beat Fiji in the FIH Women’s Series Final Hiroshima 2019 to qualify for the Semi-Final. The match was the last one for India in Pool A at the Hiroshima Hockey Stadium today.


 

The entire match saw World No. 9 Indian team dominate their opponents, allowing them to only have one circle entry in the entire 60 minutes. India held a 5-0 advantage in the first quarter as Lalremsiami, captain Rani, Monika, Vandana Kataria and Gurjit Kaur scored one goal each. Gurjit kaur scored her hat-trick in the 21st minute. The score was 8-0 at the end of the second quarter. At 57th minute, Navneet kaur pounced from a loose clearance by the Fiji Goalkeeper as she registered her name on the scoreboard by scoring to make it 11-0. The world No. 44 Fiji struggled to keep up with the Indian attackers and finally India won the match by an impressive score-line of 11-0.

 
India will play the Semi-Final match of the FIH Women’s Series Finals Hiroshima 2019 against Uruguay on Saturday, June 22.
