Saharanpur/Muzaffarnagar (UP), June 21: Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary and patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Indresh Kumar paid a goodwill visit to renowned Islamic Madarsa Darul Uloom Deoband with a message of brotherhood and peace on June 20.

He was accompanied by MRM National Conveners Dr Shahid Akhtar, Islam Abbas and MRM Madarsa Cell Convener Mohd Mazahir Khan and others.

Indresh Kumar was warmly welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of the Darul Uloom Maunala Abdul Qasim Nomani Benarasi

Nomani said that the doors of the Darul Uloom are open for the visitors. He also apprised Indresh Kumar of the role and contribution of Ulemas in the freedom struggle while welcoming him with an “open heart”.

Indresh Kumar who had earlier also visited the Islamic center, said that he has come here with a message of mutual love, peace and brotherhood. “This is the only way to develop the country and take it on to the path of progress and prosperity. The government should devise methods to upgrade education and increase job opportunities for everyone”, Indresh Kumar said.

Making an oblique reference to AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, Indresh Kumar said that there are some opportunist leaders who try to wedge a divide between the Muslims and Hindus and create fear among the Muslims for their personal vested interests. But the truth is that the country will make progress with mutual peace, brotherhood and harmony, he added.

Indresh Kumar had come to participate in a ‘Paigam-e-Insaniyat’ program organized by Islamia Degree College here on Thursday. After the program he paid a ‘goodwill’ visit to the Darul Uloom where he was received by Maulana Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani Benarasi with warmth and flowers.

Later talking to reporters Indresh Kumar said that he had come to Deoband with a message of brotherhood. He had earlier visited the place in 2004. He said that we must follow our own religion but live like a harmonious society as brothers and sisters if we want to develop our country as a world leader. We must also honour each other’s religions. He said that our identity is not because of our religion but by our country we are known in the world.
