Amaravati, June 25: Being Aggressive against the former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered demolition of a government building on a riverbed in Amaravati claiming it an illegal one.

The building named ‘Praja Vedika’ or Grievance Hall was constructed during the tenure of Reddy’s predecessor N. Chandrababu Naidu. It was built by the AP Capital Region Development Authority on the Krishna riverbed near the residence of Naidu. The order of the Chief Minister effectively meant the rejection of Naidu’s plea to him earlier this month that the building which was used for the official meetings in the previous regime, be declared as ‘residence annex’ of the Leader of Opposition.

In his inaugural speech yesterday at a two-day conference of District Collectors and Superintendents of Police, the Chief Minister made this announcement saying that the building was built in violation of rules and against the law. The Chief Minister further cleared that while tenders were invited for an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crore, the cost was escalated to 8.90 crore rupees during execution.
