New Delhi, June 28: Lashing out at the oppositions and responding staunch to the comments made amidst loud thumping in the lower house, Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday presented the proposal for Jammu and Kashmir reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2019, saying that the people living in the firing around the international border should also get the benefit of the reservation.

“Narendra Modi Govt has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards terror and I am sure we will be successful in achieving it with the help of our citizens”, he said.

Further hailing Narendra Modi and M M Joshi for unfurling India’s flag in Kashmir, Shah said, ”There was a time when there was no sign of India in Kashmir. State Bank of India signboard was seen with a cloth covering 'India' word. Murli Manohar Joshi and Narendra Modi risked their lives and unfurled triclour at lal chowk. We were not in power then”.

“Those who want to break the country, should feel frightened. The fear should not be in the minds of the the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We consider the people of Jammu and Kashmir as our own. But the doubts that have already been sown, are creating problems”, he added.

Taking a jibe at the oppositions in Lok Sabha, Shah raised questions over SP Mukherjee’s death and no investigation processed furter. “In 1953 when SP Mukherjee entered Kashmir protesting against the two Prime Ministers in a country rule he was thrown in jail. His death was also not probed. Why? Was he not a senior opposition leader? A leader from Bengal, a former Union Minister?”, he said.
Responding to the allegations of trampling democracy in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah pondered the credibility of the opposition to talk about democracy who till date have imposed President’s rule 93 times of 132. “Before this time, till now 132 times, article 356 has been imposed, out of which 93 times Congress has done it. Now these people will teach us democracy? Now these people will teach us democracy?”, he slammed straight.

Shah also slammed Congress for taking no action against terrorism then. “We are facing the menace of terror because of the mistakes that were made by the Congress. Why wasn't Jamaat-e-Islami banned till date? Who did you want to please? It was the BJP government that banned Jamaat-e-Islami. Who put the ban on JKLF? It was the BJP who did it”, he said.
Referring to the partition theory and answering the illogical queries made by the Congress MP Manish Tiwari, Shaha said, “Tiwari is questioning the division of the country today. Today, one-third of Kashmir is not with India, why did it happen? Who called for ceasefire back then?”, he pondered lashing out that it was Jawaharlal Nehru who did it and gave that portion to Pakistan.

“You say we don't take people into confidence, but Nehru did it without taking the then home minister into confidence”, he said.

MHA Shah, while emphasizing on extending the term of President's rule in the Lok Sabha, said, "The term of the current President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir is going to be completed on July 2, which is necessary to be extended for 6 months. This bill is not meant to please anyone, but for those who live near the international border”, he signed off.
