MRM National Conveners Islam Abbas, Mohd Afzal and Girish Juyla at a program in Kupwada

New Delh/ Srinagar, June 28: While the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking steps and implementing measures to improve the situation in Kashmir, social organizations like Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) are also contributing their mite through the ‘Mission Kashmir’.

The Mission Kashmir, launched under the direction and guidance of MRM guide and patron Indresh Kumar, who was RSS pracharak in that border state for a long time, is aimed at connecting people in terrorism affected Kupwada and other regions of the Valley.

MRM National Conveners Mohd Afzal and Islam Abbas told a television news channel that their efforts are aimed at reinstating the original ‘Heaven on the Earth’ status of Kashmir Valley by convincing the people there not to get swayed by the talk of ‘azadi’ by the people sitting across the border. Now people are seeing through their game plan, Abbas said adding that hundreds of Muslims are joining the MRM in Jammu and Kashmir. Over 600 people attend our program in Kupwada area, is itself the proof of the success of our mission, he added.

Afzal said that we try to convince them by telling them stories and historical facts about the participation of Muslims in country’s freedom struggle and progress, and exposing the hollowness in promises made to them by those sitting on the other side of the border.

Islam Abbas said that they conduct programs in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir and tell the truth about Article 370 and 35A to the people of the state and explain to them how these provisions have hindered the economic growth of the state. We must follow the path of the other states and achieve our progress, the MRM impresses upon the people of J & K, Abbas said.

Islam Abbas further said that MRM takes its message of peace, brotherhood and progress not only to people of Kupwada and Anantnag – the most affected areas by terrorism—but also carries the message to the village of Burhan Vani. “We tell them that some vested interests across the border are using them to further their interests. Your ancestors and roots are in this land and nobody has achieved any tangible results by indulging in violence in his own house. So, it is better and advisable to join the national mainstream and get on the path of progress and prosperity”.

Talking about the programs in Kashmir, Islam Abbas said that we do talk on Muslim history in every program of MRM. We tell them about those Muslims who sacrificed their lives for liberating the country from the British rule and also recount the valour of those Muslim soldiers who contributed to defeat of Pakistan in every war with India. This generates a positive thinking among them, he said.
