Budget Session of Bihar to begin today

Patna, June 27: The Budget Session of the Bihar legislature is beginning from today. The session will have 21 seatings and continue till 26th July. The first supplementary budget of the current fiscal year will be presented in the house today.

 

The session is likely to begin on a stormy note with the opposition gearing up to corner the government over deaths of innocent children due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Muzaffarpur and its adjoining areas.

Opposition parties including RJD and Congress have announced to raise issues of the drinking water crisis and deteriorating law and order in the state.

On the hand, Parliamentary affairs Minister Shrawan Kumar said the government is ready to reply to all issues which will be raised by opposition parties. Meanwhile, Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has appealed all parties to cooperate for a smooth session.

Also, the Tamil Nadu Assembly session begins today. It will sit for 23 days excluding closed holidays and will last till July 30th.

On Monday, it is expected that the no-confidence motion brought in by the principal opposition DMK would be taken up for debate and voting. Debates on Demand for Grants for various departments would be held on all days.

This is the first session after both the ruling AIADMK and the opposition DMK augmented their strength in the House following the recent bye-elections.

Various issues like drinking water crisis, hydro-carbon issue and Cauvery row are expected to be raised by the opposition during the session.
