BIG Beginning! India Outclasses Russia 10-0 in FIH Men’s Hockey Series

Bhubaneshwar, June 7: Indian Men’s Hockey Team achieved a glorious victory in the first Match of FIH Men’s Hockey Series Finals at Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneshwar late yesterday by beating Russia 10-0.



 

Indian team scored only three goals in the first two quarters and remaining seven in the last two quarters. Russia couldn’t even open the account during the whole match. Accomplished Indian player Amit Rohidas scored India’s first goal at 13th minute. Thereafter, Simranjeet, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Gursahibjit Singh Akashdeep Mandeep Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad scored the subsequent goals. Amit Rohidas, Akashdweep and Gursahibjit scored two goals each. Akashdweep’s goal in the 56th minute gave india a double digit mark and clinched Russia with a big margin of ten goals.

 
India will play its second match with Uzbekistan on June 10. In the quest of qualifying in Tokyo 2020 Olympics, eight teams from Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America are battling for top two positions as only the top two teams will be allotted Olympic qualifier quota.
