Eyeing to wean out corrupts and corruption, CBI raids 22 locations in West Bengal in chit fund cases

Kolkata, July 1: Drooling under violence, political killings, coercive behaviour of political party, the state of West Bengal has stagnated itself from development. With this stagnation has come the list of corrupt activities lingering in the state. Taking cognizance of the situation, the CBI is carrying out searches at 22 locations in West Bengal which are the premises of directors and promoters of New Land Agro Industries.

 

New Land Agro Industries are one of the accused companies involved in a ponzi scam case. The CBI officials said following the orders of the Supreme Court, the company was booked in May 2017. Following the directions asserted by CBI, all the companies allegedly involved in the ponzi scam being probed by a Special Investigation Team of West Bengal.

The officials added that it was alleged in the complaint that over 250 agents, who had deposited approximately Rs 1 crore each, were cheated by the promoters and directors of the agency by promising them lucrative return. But the maturity amounts were not paid to the gullible investors, it was alleged.

The state of West Bengal has also been under radar by the investigation agencies in chit fund cases. The major was one with former West Bengal Commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s involvement in shielding the Saradha Chit Fund scam cases. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was seen supporting and trying all her level best to protect the top cop by her dramatic dharna but to no avail.
