Kudos! IIT-Kharagpur alumnus marks fellowship at Royal Society of Chemistry

Kharagpur, Jul. 11: Indians are not leaving a single stone of success unturned with their dedication and skills. Many Indians or POIs are marking their position on the international level. Making a contribution to this tradition, Dr. Sudipta Seal, an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur has recently been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry for his contribution in the field of Chemical Sciences.
Talking about specialization, Dr. Seal’s area of specialization is nanomaterials processing and characterization, nanobiotechnology, materials for optics, sensors, coatings, fuel cells, oxidation/corrosion, surface science and engineering and chemical mechanical planarization.
He is at present Department Chair of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Central Florida.
Dr. Seal graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 1990 with BTech in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. He did MS in Metallurgy from the University of Sheffield and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Materials Engineering and Biochemistry. He has been associated with UCF for close to 22 years.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is one of the oldest and most reputed professional body headquartered in the United Kingdom with the goal of advancing in chemistry, developing its applications, and disseminating chemical knowledge.
On this occasion, Dr. seal said, “As a materials engineer I'm always involved in new material formulation and development for a variety of applications in biomedical, space and the environment. Getting recognized by the Royal Society of Chemistry is not only a humbling experience but will also create a lot of future research opportunities”.
