Yogi Sarkar relaxes tax structure for small shopkeepers

Lucknow, July 15: The state government has given great favor to small shopkeepers. Now, those who run the shops up to 120 sq. ft. will get a great benefit, the house taxation has been decreased from five times to one and a half time. The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday.  In the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister, amending the Municipal Corporation (Property Tax) Rules 2000, the Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Property Tax) (Third Amendment) Rules 2019 was approved. This will provide shelter to those who take care of the stomachs in the residential areas of maximum 120 square feet in the residential areas.

 

Those who are selling tea, milk, bread, egg, paan, fruit, vegetables, hairdresser and registered shop will be benefited from this. They had to pay tax five times the tax of fixed house tax till now. After the cabinet decision, the house tax will be paid only one and a half times. The state government had done a survey of Indiranagar in Lucknow as a model.

On the basis of the system given in Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1959, there is a provision for house tax in the urban areas for the house makers. Under the property tax, there is a system for making general tax (house tax), water tax and sewer tax. This tax is levied on the basis of annual value of the building or land. Therefore, the decision of the state government will only benefit the people of the urban area.
