Adding Value to Bilateral Ties, India-Uzbekistan Hold Talks on Counter-Terrorism

New Delhi, July 17: India and Uzbekistan had a long elaborative discussion on the issue of terrorism in the 8th meeting of India-Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism held in New Delhi yesterday.  

 
The meeting was co-chaired by Mahaveer Singhvi, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism), Ministry of External Affairs of India and Ambassador Farhod Azriev of Uzbekistan. The Group discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the sphere of counter-terrorism through information sharing, mutual capacity building and sharing of best practices. 
The Joint Working Group reviewed threats posed by terrorist groups worldwide and in their respective regions including cross border terrorism. Cooperation in multilateral fora including UN, Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and EAG was also discussed. The next meeting of the Joint Working Group will be held in Uzbekistan on a mutually convenient date.
