Mumbai, July 2: Its entry was delayed but it speeded with pace; yes talking about the rains! Heavy rains have lashed many parts of the country. Keeping this in mind, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that monsoon in Maharashtra will be vigorous for the next four to five days, especially the northern parts of the state. It has also predicted that monsoon will be active in the southern parts of Maharashtra. Konkan Goa will get widespread rains in the next five days.


 

The low-pressure area has formed over north Odisha and West Bengal which is likely to follow the westerly path until it reaches Vidarbha and south of west Madhya Pradesh. It will then follow the north-west direction towards the south-east part of Gujarat.

As the monsoon is progressing via north Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, widespread rains are expected over these regions till July 2. Heavy to very heavy rains will continue in Chhattisgarh till July 3.

This system is expected to enter Maharashtra through Vidarbha. In association with the upper air cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat, the whole of Maharashtra (mostly northern part) will get fairly widespread (51 to 74 percent area) to mostly widespread (76 percent and above area) rains till July 3.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rains warning has been issued for north of Maharashtra.

 

Isolated areas of Gujarat, east Madhya Pradesh will get fairly widespread to widespread rains. Heavy to very heavy rains have been predicted for Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh for the next five days.

Also, rough to very rough sea conditions (with wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph) are likely to prevail over west central & adjoining southwest Arabian Sea, along & off Gujarat coast, along & off Andaman & Nicobar Islands, north & adjoining central Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Squally weather is likely to prevail over north Maharashtra coast.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
