New Delhi, July 22: And we have achieved it… After taking a good pause, ISRO has launched its moon mission Chandrayaan-2, at the scheduled time of 2:43 PM today. With Chandrayaan-2, India aims at the soft landing on the Moon. If successful, it will be the fourth country after the US, Russia and China to do so. Seeing a great success, the USA has congratulated ISRO for its achievement.

In a tweet, USA said, “Congratulations to #India & @isro on its launch of #Chandrayaan2. An incredible achievement! As the #US marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we are proud to partner w/ India, moving together toward the next “giant leap” in space exploration”

Today, the powerful booster GSLV-Mark-Three carrying Chandrayaan-2 on-board zoomed into space at 2.43 pm by puffing out thick smoke and leaving trailblazers amidst thundering sound from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

In just 16 minutes into the sky, it ed the high-stake lunar probe into the designated highly elliptical orbit.

From the earth-bound orbit, Chandrayaan-2 will be navigated by the ISRO scientists to near the South Pole of the moon, which is an unexplored area as yet. It will be the first soft-landing of a probe by India, that is expected to be on 7th September. India would become the fourth ever nation to have a soft-landing on the moon, once Chandrayaan-2 reaches there.

Chandrayaan-2 is an engineering marvel. It demonstrates ISRO’s capability to fire powerful rockets, carry heavy payloads, navigate in space, perform complex procedures and showcases expertise in signalling and communications, cartography, sensor technology, and chemistry.
