Tokyo, July 24: India had a wonderful beginning today as India’s badminton maestro H. S. Prannoy cruised into the second round of men's singles of Japan Open beating compatriot Kidambi Srikanth 13-21, 21-11, 22-20.

In the mixed doubles event, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa also advanced to the next round. Sai Praneeth has already stormed into the second round of men's singles. He next faces Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan.
 
Top Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, seeded fifth, will face China's Yue Han. In men's doubles, Satwiksairaj Ranikreddy and Chirag Shetty will take on Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge, while Manu Attri and Sumeeth B Reddy, crashed out of the tournament. Saina Nehwal has pulled out of the tournament due to injuries.
In another match, Sameer Verma lost to Anders Antonsen of Denmark 21- 17, 21- 12.
