Shimla July 25: Due to unfavourable weather condition, the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra will stay suspended this year, following inclement weather trek and snow-bound trek. The decision was taken keeping in view the inclement weather, damaged forest huts at Ganesh Park and resolution passed by Dev Samaj and Pradhans of Ribba and Powari villages.

Following the death of two pilgrims, who had taken the yatra illegally and had died, Kinnaur district administration made it clear that no one would be allowed to take the yatra without permission.

The arduous trekking pilgrimage requires permission from the district administration. Last month, two pilgrims died of cold and altitude sickness, while undertaking a yatra to Kinner Kailash in Kinnaur district. Five trekkers had headed towards the Kinner-Kailash without informing the administration. Two died and three were rescued.

Due to heavy rains last year, the pilgrimage was suspended by the district administration. It left around 100 people stranded near the cave, who were later brought to a safe place.
