Bangalore, July 26: Political hustle-bustle in Karnataka seems to have end now as BJP State President B. S. Yeddyurappa today sworn in as the new Chief Minister of karnataka in a splendid ceremony.
It was indeed a much awaited moment for Karnataka. After the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government, the BJP had ensured to get into the power. With the strength of 105, the BJP was just two numbers more than the magic number of 103 in a House strength of 205. Two Independents extended their support to BJP.
A clearance was awaited from the party's parliamentary Board and a few senior state leaders had gone to Delhi to meet the national leaders.yesterday. However, in a sudden development today, Yeddyurappa has announced that he will be sworn in today as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. He also said that there is no need to hold a legislative party meeting as he is the leader of the opposition in the current Assembly.
Yeddyurappa confirmed that the party National President and Union Home minister Amit Shah called him in the morning and asked him to prepare for the oath.
“We have to show the difference in the administration. There will be no politics of vengeance and I will take the opposition along. The role of party workers is huge. Farmers, fishermen, potters, weavers, the tribal and the downtrodden communities have huge expectations from the new government. Without your support, I cannot live up to their expectations,” Yediyurappa said while addressing to the BJP workers today.Before arriving at Raj Bhavan for taking oath, Yeddyurappa offers prayers at Kadu Malleshwara Temple in Bangalore.
This is the fourth time that Yeddyurappa serves as the CM of Karnataka as he has served three terms as the Chief Minister and the Karnataka state president of BJP. In 1988, he became the State President of the BJP in Karnataka. He has been a member of the Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Twelfth and Thirteenth Legislative Assemblies (lower house) of Karnataka.
