Three steps closer to the Moon: Third earth bound maneuver for #Chandrayaan2 performed successfully

New Delhi, July 29: After the successful Second earth-bound maneuver, the Third earthbound orbit-raising maneuver for Chandryaan-2 spacecraft has been performed successfully today at 3.12 pm as planned, using the onboard propulsion system for a firing duration of 989 seconds. The orbit achieved is 276 x 71792 km.

 

In an official release, ISRO said, “All spacecraft parameters are normal. The fourth orbit-raising maneuver is scheduled on August 2, between 2 pm to 3 pm.”

The Second earthbound orbit-raising maneuver for Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft was performed on Friday at 0108 hrs (IST) as planned. And the first maneuver was performed on Wednesday at 2.52 pm

 

India on July 22 launched the country's second moon mission Chandrayaan 2 on-board its powerful rocket GSLV-MkIII-M1 from the spaceport of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh with the aim of landing a rover in the unexplored lunar south pole. The 3,850-kg, Rs 978-crore spacecraft is a three-module composite made up of an orbiter, lander, and rover.
